Embarking on a photography road trip to Iceland is a journey of a lifetime that promises breathtaking landscapes, otherworldly beauty, and a sense of adventure that’s hard to match. The diversity of Icelandic landscapes is unparalleled – from the dramatic fjords to the majestic waterfalls, volcanic terrains, each location seemed like a page from a fairytale. We were really flabbergasted!
The Golden Circle took us to the iconic sites of Thingvellir National Park, Geysir geothermal area, and the powerful Gullfoss waterfall. Standing before the mighty Gullfoss, we felt the mist on our faces and the thunderous roar of water echoing through the air. The challenge was to capture its grandeur in a single frame, so we let our drone into the air.
We found ourselves marvelling at the black sand beaches of Vik, with the Reynisdrangar sea stacks jutting out of the North Atlantic Ocean. We arrived around 10 o’clock in the evening, and it was still twilight. It didn’t get any darker that evening. It was very surreal and challenging for a photographer; you can’t stop taking beautiful shots because your body thinks it’s daytime. In the end, we stopped around 11:30 PM. We wanted to visit this special place again in the morning.
